Sam Askey-Doran

Triathlon

Sam came to triathlon from the water. A Tasmanian who spent more than a decade as a distance swimmer — racing 400m to 1500m freestyle in the pool and the 10km open-water event at national championships — he turned to triathlon in 2023 and made an immediate mark, setting a new swim course record at the Ironman World Championship in Kona (45:43), the fastest swim in the race's history. He brings that swim-first pedigree and an engine built over years in the water to every athlete he coaches.
